Please try this homemade salsa made from scratch made by roasting tomatoes – quick to make and a great party dip. Store it to avoid reaching out to an unhealthy snack.

Until last year I bought salsa from stores; the thought never crossed my mind that I should try to make it at home. Now, there’s no going back – only at home starting from scratch. This story with Salsa is same as my story with Hummus.

I start with tomatoes and roast them to make this salsa – no canned ingredient. Please don’t get me wrong, canned is not bad at all. But the charm of preparing end-to-end is unmatched!

What is Salsa?

Salsa is a chopped tomato sauce common in Mexican Cuisine and often served as a dip with Tortilla Chips (made from corn). The word Salsa is nothing but “Sauce” in Spanish.

What are other easy dips to make?

My top five favrotie dips are Hummus, Beets-Garlic Dip, Salsa, Gaucamole, and Coriander-Mint Chutney, . In this post I have put together recipes and grocery list for first three dips above.

Storing Salsa

This is a great dip to make once and store for 3-4 days. Why store? To me, these healthy dips come to rescue for those midday snack cravings. Having these healthy dips in the refrigerator can go a long way in replacing those unhealthy options!

Not just chips, one can have it as salad dressing
